Leslie’s ICL Story

Leslie underwent vision correction with Visian ICL™ lenses performed by Dr. Margaret Liu. Before her procedure, Leslie had poor vision and was fully dependent on glasses or contacts for every aspect of her life. Now, Leslie enjoys clear vision and the convenience of not having to worry about corrective lenses.

What is the Visian ICL?

Visian ICL, also referred to as the Implantable Collamer Lens®, is a lens that is implanted into the eye to correct common refractive errors. The Visian ICL procedure does not alter corneal tissue like other refractive surgeries, so this may be a great option for patients who have thinner corneas or who are otherwise not candidates for procedures like LASIK. Our patients love the Visian ICL because it provides surpassingly clear vision, offers UV protection, does not cause dry eye, and is reversible and upgradable if needed.

Leslie’s Visian ICL Experience

Prior to her vision correction procedure, Leslie really needed her glasses or contacts to do just about anything. As she says, “I was motivated to get the ICL implant because I was tired of relying on contacts and terrified of navigating the world with my limited vision if I were to lose my contacts or glasses. It was both a convenience and safety decision.”

Leslie says that she felt fully confident in Dr. Margaret Liu, which made her Visian ICL experience much easier than she expected it to be. Dr. Liu thoroughly explained the procedure, answered Leslie’s questions, and gave detailed responses to how she would handle any potential complications during the surgery. In fact, Leslie was so at ease that prior to her surgery she wasn’t thinking about worries at all—she was just thinking about how excited she was to finally be rid of her contacts!

According to Leslie, her experience on the day of the procedure was great. Check-in was easy, and the nurse and Dr. Liu made her feel comfortable at every interaction. Now that Leslie has had the Visian ICL implanted, her vision is great. Leslie says, “I see as well as I did with contacts, but with none of the hassle!”
